Denmark Horns of Wind

Bearing in mind Denmark’s long reliance with the wind, designers Mesa Arango and Rafael Herrera, have conceived “The Sound of Denmark” project as their proposal for LAGI 2014

As we read in designboom, “the project is comprised of 12 viking horn forms which function as compact wind acceleration turbines to both generate energy and also produce sounds in co-operation with the structure’s shape”

The  installation is estimated to produce 117 MWh per year, and is designed so that air currents will move through and interact with the shape of each horn, where inside, turbines help to accelerate wind force and increase its velocity, and at the same time, surface perforations produce eerie sounds, corresponding to various letters of the alphabet.

Worth mentioning that the instalation will built using wood and metal materials from decommissioned ships.
